The partnership between families and Whitegate Centre is crucial to children’s happiness and development. We believe that every child has the right to develop to their full potential and that by working in true partnership with families, we can provide the best opportunities for each and every child. Your family experiences of the centre are welcomed and we use any feedback and comments to continue to improve what we do.
Learning is a 24 hours-a-day process. Sharing some of your child’s experiences from home enables us to get to fully know your child and link this to the opportunities we offer them in the centre. We love to hear and chat about what you have been up to and also you can email us any photos or information.
As an extension of family conferences and sharing videos in the Nursery and Early Years Care, we are also involved in working with parents through the PICL project (Parental Involvement in Children’s learning). This is a really exciting opportunity to find out more about how your child learns through play and everyday experiences. Please speak to a member of our team if you would like to be involved.
Communication is a vital key to learning: telling stories, sharing books, singing songs and rhymes are an invaluable part of early communication and language development. Spending as little as 10 minutes each day gives you and your child a sense of shared enjoyment, emotional warmth and closeness.
Every child will have the opportunity to join in our Story Sack scheme which operates across the centre. Each Story Sack will include a book and linked activities/resources to share together at home.
Family events give the children an opportunity to show their families around the centre and share what they have been doing. It’s a great opportunity for us to get to know you better and we really appreciate any support to organise ‘Family Days’.
